The 4th Annual Parklands 5K Walk & Run, presented by Enchanting Adventure Travels, takes place on June 4, 2022, and raises funds for the annual operations and maintenance of our nearly 4,000-acre, visitor-supported park system. The Parklands does not receive tax dollars for annual operations, so support from the community is critical to annual operations. The Parklands is open 365 days a year with zero entry fee. It features over 60 miles of trails for hiking and biking—including a mountain bike park and a 19-mile, ADA-certified, multi-use paved trail that spans the length of the park—and 22 miles of paddling trail along Floyds Fork. Thanks to community support, a safe, clean, fun and beautiful experience is provided during millions of visits to The Parklands every year. In addition to supporting the parks you know and love, each participant will receive a race medal and our 2022 t-shirt featuring new artwork for our 4th Annual 5K!
 
OPENINGS
The spraygrounds at Creekside Center in Beckley Creek Park and Cliffside Center in Broad Run Park and the Silo Center Bike Park in Turkey Run Park are now open for the season!
Please note, the skills loop at the Silo Center Bike Park remains closed.

The Return of the Eastwood Village Farmers Market
 
The Eastwood Village Farmers Market is back at Beckley Creek Park for its 4th consecutive year. Saturday mornings from May 14th - September 24th, local vendors will set up and sell their produce and other products to members of the community. Fruits, vegetables, plants, cut flowers and baked goods are just some of the items you can find!
 
 
The Parklands Education Luncheon
 
Join hundreds of community leaders, entrepreneurs and fellow park lovers to celebrate The Parklands Outdoor Classroom, Louisville’s newest outdoor STEAM-based education program, at The Parklands Education Luncheon, presented by PNC Bank. The Outdoor Classroom is made possible thanks to our generous sponsors every year.

Wednesday Wonders & Wee Wednesday Wonders
 
Wednesday Wonders are interactive programs designed to spark the curiosity of young children. Each week, we'll explore a new science wonder with a story, craft, hike, or related science experiment. Wednesday Wonders is an all outdoor program. Masks are not required outdoors. In the event of severe weather, the program will be moved indoors at the respective location.

Storytime in Storybook Forest
 
Every Thursday at 2:30 p.m.
Meet at Marshall Playground, Beckley Creek Park
Get lost in a story with us on Thursdays at 2:30 p.m. in the enchanting Storybook Forest! In this family-style program, children and their parent or guardian will join us for a short 5-minute hike on the Osage Orange trail to the Storybook Forest where they will settle in for a book read by one of our Interpretive Rangers. Each week will feature a different book chosen by a local librarian while the sounds and smells of the forest will bring the stories to life!
The Osage Orange trail is a 0.25-mile, easy trail located directly behind the Marshall Playground. The Storybook Forest has stumps and natural benches for sitting. If weather does not permit us to be outside, Storytime will be held inside the PNC Achievement Center across from the playground. This event is free and open to all. Registration is not required.
 
Eastwood Village Farmers Market
 
Every Saturday from 8 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
North Beckley Paddling Access, Beckley Creek Park
The Eastwood Village Council Farmer’s Market will be held in The Parklands every Saturday thru September starting May 14th. The market is located at the North Beckley Paddling Access parking lot in Beckley Creek Park. The market is free and open to the public.
 
Outdoor Escape Games
Every Saturday & Sunday from 10:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.
Pope Lick Park
Join us for the new Outdoor Escape Games at Pope Lick Park. It’s an outdoor adventure for the entire family, lasting up to 2 hours and involving park exploration, augmented reality, scavenger hunting and puzzle solving. It’s a unique experience available only at the Parklands!
 
PurpleStride 5K

PanCAN PurpleStride brings together pancreatic cancer survivors, families, caregivers, researchers and supporters in your community for a memorable day! Take a walk around the event village before the opening ceremony – write on the tribute wall, take pictures with your team in the photo area, and even grab a snack. Then, set off to take steps to end pancreatic cancer!
 
Family Tree Foundation Craft and Vendor Show

Parklands volunteers work across departments and help with every facet of park operation from invasive species removal to assisting with summer camp programs. Created for families by families, FEAT (Families for Effective Autism Treatment) of Louisville is dedicated to easing the autism journey through ongoing support, education and programs. FEAT of Louisville's is hosting their 17th Annual Run for Autism at Beckley Creek Park. Each year, this event has over 1,300 dedicated participants that help raise funds for the cause. Come join us as exercise can help boost our mental state as well as our physical health.

Join hundreds of community leaders, entrepreneurs and fellow park lovers to celebrate The Parklands Outdoor Classroom. The Parklands Outdoor Classroom has delivered over 130,000 outdoor education experiences to children and adults since 2013, enhancing scientific literacy throughout the greater Louisville community. The event begins with time to network, followed by a special program highlighting The Parklands Outdoor Classroom while lunch is served.

Together we work to enhance quality of life and help our community and economy grow in ways that are healthy, sustainable and enjoyable for people of all ages. When you donate, you become a Parklands Member, and you are contributing to an annual fund that provides the community with free access to nearly 4,000 acres of parkland preserved and maintained for current and future generations.
